University of the Arts Helsinki (Uniarts Helsinki) is now recruiting hourly-paid

Student Ambassadors

for our Student Ambassador programme. For the next academic year, we intend to recruit approximately 5 new Ambassadors to join the Ambassador team, currently consisting of 10 ambassadors.

For the Sibelius Academy, we are looking for approximately 3 new ambassadors from any programme. Both international students and Finnish students are welcome to apply. In order to best supplement the academy’s current team of ambassadors, Swedish speaking skills are considered an advantage, but not necessary.

For the Theatre Academy, we are looking for approximately 2 new ambassadors from any programme. Both international students and Finnish students are welcome to apply.

The working period for new ambassadors is 1.8.2026–31.5.2027. Ambassadors who do not graduate in the summer 2027 will have the chance to renew their contract for the next academic year.

The objectives of the programme are to:

  • have our own students represent the academies outside the university community
  • support the services of the academies (admissions services, communications etc.)
  • offer our students practical training/work experience opportunities

Tasks and responsibilities

The tasks of the Ambassadors vary according to the represented academy and the interests and capabilities of the Ambassador. Tasks are assigned to the ambassadors by the programme manager and the academies’ contact persons.

Annual tasks for ambassadors from all three academies are the following

  • Answering email inquiries from potential applicants
  • Content creation (e.g. Instagram videos, takeovers, blog posts)
  • Conducting campus tours and school presentations (online and on-site)
  • Taking part in student recruitment events
  • Assisting with the new students’ orientation period
  • One personal ambassador project per semester per ambassador (10–40 hours)

Other tasks may include for example

  • Communications and marketing support  
  • International office support
  • Assisting in events
  • Assisting in entrance examinations 
  • Other assisting tasks 

What we expect from you

  • Attending degree student in the Sibelius Academy / Theatre Academy
  • Fluent in English, additional languages are a plus
  • Excellent interaction skills
  • Great written and oral communication skills
  • Responsible
  • Conscientious and meticulous
  • Self-starter
  • Content creation skills (video editing etc.) are a plus
  • Performance skills are a plus

In addition, the formation of a diverse group of ambassadors is considered – regarding language, cultural background, gender, age, study programme, stage of studies, etc.

Please submit your application including the following assignments through our electronic recruitment system by 9 March at 23:59 (Finnish time). The following attachments must be attached to the application in English in PDF form:

  1. CV (including information about your language skills, current stage of your studies, your academy)
  2. Short motivation letter
  3. A document with accessible video link - please upload the below video assignment to a cloud service or video service of your choice and submit the link as a PDF.

Video assignment

As a Student Ambassador, you will complete one personal ambassador project each semester. The purpose of the project is to create something that would be helpful, necessary, inspiring, or exciting for a prospective applicant or a newly admitted Uniarts student to see or hear.

 Your project can take many forms, for example:

  • an Instagram video series
  • a YouTube video
  • a blog post series
  • a short podcast miniseries
  • or any other format that helps prospective applicants or newly admitted students.

At the beginning of the semester, you will plan your project in detail (content, schedule, format, estimated hours, etc.) and get it approved by your manager. Projects may be completed individually or as a group with other ambassadors from any academy. The expected workload is 10–40 hours per ambassador.

Please create a short video (approximately 2–4 minutes) in which you:

  1. Present your idea for your personal ambassador project, and
  2. Explain why this project would be helpful for a prospective applicant/newly admitted student.

Further steps in the process

After reviewing the applications, we will invite some of the applicants to an interview. All applicants will be notified regardless of whether they are invited to an interview. The interviews will be arranged as follows:

  • Sibelius Academy: Tuesday 17 March at 12–17
  • Theatre Academy: Wednesday 18 March at 13–17
